The 24 Hour Basic Mediation Training is for those interested in becoming volunteer and professional mediators. The skills developed are also transferable to any situation dealing with people. This highly interactive training gives participants the opportunity to integrate concepts and skills through lectures, exercises, discussions, videos, and role-plays. The course will benefit you whether you are interested in becoming a mediator or improving your skills as an effective communicator in any field.
Participants will learn: The mediation process, including caucusing, writing agreements, and communication skills such as active listening, reframing, summarizing, and working with difficult people.

Dealing with Difficult People

Dealing with difficult people is a stressful challenge faced by many people every day. The cost of conflict to an organization is difficult to measure, but workplace stress negatively affects employees in various ways. Statistics indicate that 55 percent of working Canadians experience anxiety, irritability with co-workers, defensiveness, anger, mood swings and feelings of helplessness or of being trapped.
These two days of training will give you the tools to manage conflict at work and at home. This introductory workshop examines basic approaches to conflict and provides the opportunity to learn concepts and communication skills which are critical to handling conflict in healthy ways. It is an essential professional development tool for all managers, team leaders and front-line staff. Through this course you will:
  • Explore case studies and consider how you respond to difficult people and conflict situations and how that affects your life.
  • Learn communication skills to use in difficult situations.
  • Increase your ability to proactively engage others to resolve conflicts.
  • Learn and practice processes for clearing up misunderstandings, recovering from mistakes and resolving disagreements.

"Creating a Co-Parenting Plan" Seminar

Bucks County Mediation Services Staff

If you are in constant battle with your former spouse over sharing time with your children on holidays, weekends or events - you need this workshop!
If you have grown weary of the see-saw emotions that accompany the discussion- you need this workshop!
Liz Ramirez of the Bucks County Mediation Services will facilitate a seminar to help parents create a successful child-sharing plan. A well-designed parenting plan provides for children of divorced or separated parents to spend time with both parents. You will learn how to de-escalate the conflict and create a Parenting Plan Agreement and a Parenting Calendar.
